The film La Vie en Rose is a biopic about the life of famous French singer Edith Piaf. It follows her journey from a poor childhood in Paris to international stardom. Marion Cotillard won many awards for her portrayal of Piaf, as she captured Piaf's struggles with love and personal tragedy which fueled her incredible vocal talent. The film depicts the key events in Piaf's life that shaped her career and persona as a performer.

A biopic about the French singer Edith Piaf. The film was written and directed by Olivier Dahan, and starred Marion Cotillard as Piaf. Marion Cotillard won 7 major Best Actress Awards for her portrayal of Édith Piaf in La Vie en Rose. In some shots the true voice of Marion Cotillard is heard, but most of the time the play-back with the voice of Edith Piaf is used.
Biography of the famous French singer Edith Piaf (1915-1963): her childhood, her teenage years and her ascension to glory. From the slums of Paris to the limelight of New York.  Edith Piaf's life was a struggle for survival and love. She grew up amid poverty but her magical voice and her passionate romances and friendships with the great personalities of the era made her a global star.
Marion Cotillard portrays Piaf, the superstar once raised as a young girl by her grandmother in a Normandy bordello.  Then discovered on a French street corner - as a complete unknown – by cabaret proprietor Louis Leplée (Gérard Depardieu)
The film segues breezily between various episodes from Piaf's life,  such as her lover, French boxer Marcel Cerdan's (Jean-Pierre Martins)her period in Hollywood during the '50s; In contrast the film also shows Piaf's abandonment as a young girl by her contortionist father (and earlier by her mother, a street singer)
Her brushes with the law as an adult; and her car accident and subsequent morphine addiction that caused her to age well beyond her years and left her barely mobile; and, through it all, her ability to funnel personal tragedy and emotional struggles into her vocalizations -- dazzling audiences in the process
The interpretive power of Marion in the character of Edith.  Soundtrack… Piaf’ songs are the reflection of each moment of her life The great skill of the director and the writer of scripts to move with the speech of each of the characters. The passion and intensity for life, for acting on stage. The madness of loving what you do and give everything in life.
