2. SUBSTATION
A Station is a subsidiary station of an electricity generation , transmission &
disrtibution system where voltage is transmitted to high to low or the reverse
using transformer.
A substation generally have switching , protection & control equipment & one or
more transformers.

3. LIGHTING ARRESTER
Lighting Arrester is a protective
device which provides protection
against high voltage from lighting.
A Lighting Arrester has two
terminal viz a high voltage terminal
& a ground terminal.
It is used only for overhead line.

to protect an electrical circuit from demage caused by overhead or short circuit.

Protective relay is a sensing
device & it is designed to
detect operating conditions

In order to avoid current leakage
to the Earth, through the
supporting structure provide
to the conductor of overhead
transmission lines, insulators
are used.
13. CAPACITOR BANK
Capacitor banks are used to
improve the quality of the
electrical supply and the
efficient operation of the
power system. Studies show
that a flat voltage profile on
the system can significantly
reduce line losses.
14. BATTERY ROOM & CONTROL ROOM
In a GSS separate dc supply
is maintained for signaling
remote position control,
alarm circuit etc.
