This document discusses creating a floor plan for a smart home. It provides learning outcomes, scenarios, success criteria, and instructions for students. The key points are:
- Students will design and annotate a floor plan for a bedroom or living room including at least 5 smart devices.
- The floor plan should be accurate, include detailed labels, and be neat and tidy.
- Serif Draw software will be used to create the floor plan. Adding comments explaining device placements provides an extra challenge.
- Students will review their work using Jogle, writing 2 positive comments and 1 area for improvement comment.
This document introduces various free Web 2.0 tools that can be used for education. It discusses 7 categories of tools: collaborative tools like Google Docs and Titanpad; presentation tools like Prezi; audio/video tools like Voicethread; image tools like Thinglink; behavior management tools like ClassDojo; curation tools like Pearltrees; and educational networking platforms like Edmodo. The document provides screenshots and brief explanations of each tool, noting that they are compatible across devices and easy to register for free of charge. Overall, the document serves as an introductory guide to interactive digital tools that can engage and inspire students.
This document discusses stress, its causes and negative effects like pain, overeating, anger, depression and memory loss. However, it notes there are ways to cope with stress. It then lists 10 ways to cope, including exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, eating properly, relaxing, doing enjoyable activities, positive self-talk, organization, identifying stressors, developing humor, and taking responsibility. It also briefly questions whether stress can sometimes be good.
The document provides descriptions of several movie posters, summarizing key elements like title placement, font choices, taglines, actor credits, and images. For the movie Inception, the title is in red contrasting the dark blue background, and it mentions Christopher Nolan's previous successful film The Dark Knight. For Shutter Island, Leonardo DiCaprio's stern facial expression hints at a dark psychological thriller. The Dark Knight poster features a burning bat logo and a disrupted city scene suggesting a villainous figure. The King's Speech poster uses red and white fonts for the title and tagline against each other to attract attention, and the image shows one character in a protective role over another with less confidence.

Iana is creating a radio podcast to explore if people enjoy participating in pantomimes and find them rewarding. She conducted surveys and interviews to collect primary research from her cast mates. The surveys showed that most participants in pantomimes are women aged 16-19, often influenced by family to get involved. Interviews found that cast mates enjoyed working their way up to different roles. Additional research indicated pantomimes have similar effects to entertainment shows and are generally rated as very enjoyable by participants. In conclusion, Iana found pantomimes seem rewarding for most people through her collected research answers.
This document discusses using gamification and badges for education. Badges provide granular learning objectives, build reputation, motivate students through rewards and recognition, track skillsets, and provide feedback and milestones. Leaderboards visually compare students' achievements and drive social engagement and competition. Appointment dynamics set predetermined times students must participate. Metagaming involves using out-of-game information to inform in-game strategy.
The METEORDEVS team created an app called DressUP to help users decide what to wear by allowing them to ask friends for fashion advice and access each other's digital wardrobes. Key features of DressUP include allowing users to upload photos of their own clothing collections, ask friends to vote on outfits by posting photos, and search shared wardrobes. Future improvements could include a chat feature for advice, a reputation system, and more advanced search capabilities.

This document provides a comparison of over 50 coding tools for learning programming. It lists tools categorized by those for learning visual blocks, hands-on hardware, and formal coding languages. For each tool, it provides information on required math prerequisites, preparation time, and price. Many of the tools are free to use, including Scratch, Code Combat, Codecademy, and Khan Academy for learning formal languages as well as tools like Kodable, BotLogic and CargoBot for visual blocks. Hands-on tools like Arduino, Lego Mindstorms and Sphero require additional hardware and have higher prices but provide interactive experiences. The document serves as a useful starting point for finding coding tools suitable for different ages,
A programmer is crucial for any video game development as they code the game to make it work. Programmers work in teams with lead programmers overseeing core elements and the overall game while others code specific aspects. Key skills include experience in languages like C++, creativity to problem solve under pressure, and a genuine love of games to understand different mechanics. A degree in fields like computer science is typically needed, and interning at game studios helps gain experience and connections. For example, Travis Mcintosh as the lead programmer on The Last of Us coded the main game aspects and core from scratch, which is a greater challenge than building upon an existing framework.
