Asthma is a lung disease characterized by periodic symptoms like wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath, often worse at night. In Malaysia, 80-90% of asthma cases are allergic in nature and most common in children and young adults. A survey was conducted of 125 males and 125 females aged 21-25 in Malaysia to assess their understanding of asthma symptoms, causes, diagnosis, and treatment. The survey found that most respondents understood that asthma cannot be cured but can be managed, though not all patients experience attacks, and the most effective prevention is medication adherence and avoiding triggers like smoke.
