Ongeveer 400 jaar geleden, in maart 1614 om precies te zijn verscheen er in druk een oproep tot een algehele reformatie onder de titel Fama Fraternitatis R.C. Dit is de eerste van de drie manifesten die de klassieke rozenkruisers van de zogeheten T¨¹binger King in Zuid-Duitsland publiceerden. Dit Latijnse geschrift, dat al vlot ook in andere talen werd gepubliceerd, heeft een grote invloed gehad op de beleving, verspreiding en verdere ontwikkeling van de westerse esoterie.
Sindsdien is de wereld, in ieder geval in West-Europa, enorm veranderd en in heel veel opzichten ook verbeterd. Toch is het de vraag of de algemene reformatie waarvoor de klassieke rozenkruisers zich zo hebben ingespannen, nu gerealiseerd is. Zo¡¯n vernieuwing voltrekt zich niet vanzelf, maar vraagt een intense werkzaamheid op basis van begrip en betrokkenheid. In ieder geval zijn de randvoorwaarden voor een algehele reformatie op basis van innerlijk weten nu ruimschoots aanwezig.

Safety and security was a major concern for residents in the community. Photos and narratives documented a lack of safety in public spaces like basements and laundromats in housing buildings. Gun violence and gang activity also threatened safety. While increased policing and surveillance were implemented, some residents felt over-policed and unsafe. Residents discussed taking security into their own hands by watching out for each other, but recognized this was just a temporary solution and greater efforts were needed to address the root causes of issues undermining safety, such as unemployment, discrimination, and lack of services.

We've got yet another awesome new company to talk about that's recently joined us at 2Modern, and that's the brilliant designs coming out of Brooklyn-based TOKEN. Founded by designersWill Kavesh and Emrys Berkower, the furniture they create is certainly lovely and attractive, but they do more than just build furniture that looks nice. Though, we'd be lying if we said these designs are darn fine looking.
To Will and Emrys, it's about making furniture that is functional, comfortable, isn't ironic for irony's sake, is honest and true and modern because of the engineering and design, not because it looks "cool." They take a very academic approach to how they tackle design problems and are clearly two very thoughtful, intelligent guys. It's not all seriousness, though; they add in plenty of details that are fun and whimsical, meaning though this is smartly designed furniture, it can be enjoyed by everyone. The Wonderland exhibition opened in April 2018 at ACMI and went through until October. The Lost Map of Wonderland is an NFC-enhanced paper map and is the visitor¡¯s companion device throughout the exhibition. How do you spread tourists in the city?
How do you manage offer/request of spaces from people in a neighbourhood that want to join or start activities?
How do you help a team of professionals working on the front line and on the edge of legality to prevent youngsters degrade?
The Code for Europe project in Amsterdam offered these three challenges to the Fellows, and were given 9 months to solve them. After the turning point of their project, they will present discoveries, lessons learned, obstacles, apps that were built and future plans.
Feedback from the Appsterdam community will help drive the development of the last phase of the project!
