• Since they have not provided any data regarding
oral problems of school children we should collect
the following data : -
• Total schools in the corporation of Bangalore city.
(public and private schools in each zones)
• population of total school children .
• Demographic factors

• Prevalence & severity - D.C, Gingivitis, habits, traumatic
injuries, malocclusion, fluorosis, perceived needs.
• current health and oral health status of the children .

teachers school children and parents.
• Socio cultural composition of the school population.
• Other socio-environmental factors that has an
impact on oral health.( Source of drinking water
supply,affordability to oral hygiene aids)
• Existing programs and activities in school and the
local community, as well as those delivered by the
health service providers.
• Available resources in school and the community
in terms of transport, manpower( dentists
available,auxillaries,etc), financial aid and time.

Objectives
• To provide a school environment that is conducive
to oral health of students, teachers and school
staff, as well as families and the community.
• To reduce the risk factors associated with oral
health.
• To improve oral health knowledge and attitudes
of the students teachers and parents.

3) ASSESSMENT OF RESOURCES
• Manpower –
• The no of Dentists willing to participate.
• The no of colleges willing to join, the no of
interns, PGs and Staffs.
• PHC s and Dentists available.

• Any other organizations willing to pool in.
Time –
• The duration of working hours by the
Dentists and the Dental assistants.
Materials required-
• If any colleges are willing to sponsor.

• Immediate care recquired can be provided to the
students.
• RCTs, Extractions, drainage of abscess etc..

• Include training curriculum for teachers – oral
health – toothbrushing/ fluoride rinsing.
• Training dental hygeinist in school oral health.
• Treatments like oral prophylaxis, restorations
and preventive treatment can be carried out.
• Referral for complex treatment (extractions/
RCT).

• Survey will be carried out using the WHO
Proforma 1997.
• Socioeconomic status, monthly income,
educational qualifications, occupation,
knowledge, attitude and practice of the
parents should be assessed.
• Questionnaire can be distributed to assess
this.

• Posting interns, Dentists and technicians
at various schools.

hygienist / school. Setting up of single chair
