The document outlines the 9 steps to create a magazine cover for an issue based on the book and film Ender's Game. It involves researching the theme through related images and cover styles, creating a mind map of ideas, quick sketches of concepts, more detailed sketches of favorite ideas, a final sketch of the general design, a type study to choose a font, a color study to select a color scheme, and producing the final magazine cover combining all the research and design work.

1. 1. Research images that are related with Enderʼs game (e.g. space ships) to get a better
understanding of the theme. Also, explore different artistic styles in which the magazine cover
could be created.
2. Look at existing LWL magazine covers to get an idea of what style the covers are usually.
3. Create a mind map of ideas and key words that are associated with the book and film Enderʼs
Game.
4. Create some quick sketches of different concepts and compositions of the magazine cover. The
sketches should be small, thumbnail sized sketches that include to real detail.
5. After taking on board what I have learned from the quick sketches, I should then make some
more detailed sketches of a couple of ideas that I like the most.
6. Produce a final sketch of what I want the general design to look like on the magazine cover.
7. Do a type study to find out what typeface will fit well with the overall design created in the final
sketch.
8. Do a colour study in which I try different colour schemes to find suitable colours for my magazine
cover.
9. Put all of my research, sketches and studies together and create the final product, the LWL
Enderʼs Game Issue magazine cover.
