This was a presentation I delivered in 2011 to a Sales Team at their National Conference, around how to use the BBM on their BlackBerry productively and cost effectively, instead of SMS or MMS services.

BlackBerry Messenger (or BBM for short)
The BlackBerry Messenger uses unique 8 alpha
numeric Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) for
each individual BlackBerry device, to communicate
between devices.
It is a secure (you have to be accepted by the other
BlackBerry user first, before being able to PIN / BBM)
form of text messaging.
It is the cheapest form of text messaging, as the
BBM service is built into the monthly BlackBerry BIS /
BES plan, and does not use data allowances.

How the BBM aids Productivity
Now in pairs, lets explore how the BBM can be used to:
1. Send a voice note (tip: make sure you have recorded a
voice note first. Go to Media > Voice Notes > Record a
voice note)
2. Send a picture (tip: make sure you have taken a picture
first)
3. Send a file (tip: make sure you have saved a word
document first)
Now as a group, all together, Craig will:
Send a broadcast word message to all of the team
Send a broadcast voice note message to all of the team

Keyboard Shortcuts
The BlackBerry has a number of built in keyboard shortcuts,
allowing you to quickly commence an action, without having
to use the menu function.
Note: to use the keyboard shortcuts on your BlackBerry
devices home screen, you need to have Dial From Home
Screen set to No (in the Phone Application, go Options >
General Options).
In this setting configuaration, if you want to dial a number,
press the Send key first, and then dial your number.
