Sarah Duehr interned at ABS where she created dynamic Visio diagrams of DPW plant flowpaths that calculate key metrics for process improvement. She researched dynamic Visio, databases, and data cubes to design the first draft with dummy data. Connecting Visio to the real data proved challenging, as did migrating to SharePoint which required redesigning without VBA. Her final product included a main page with flowpath diagrams linking to PC-level data displays, helping ABS with Kaizens. She learned technical skills in VBA, SQL, and platforms as well as business lessons in projects, partners, setbacks, and deadlines.

We won't be able to scale AI or other emerging tech without knowledge graphs, because those techs all require a transformed data foundation, large-scale integration, and shared data infrastructure.
Key to knowledge graphs are #semantics, #graphdatabase technology and a Tinker Toy-style approach to adding the missing verbs (which provide connections and context) back into your data. Join us and learn how you can better align your Data Management projects with business objectives to justify funding and gain management approval. Failure to successfully monetize Data Management investments sets up an unfortunate loop of fixing symptoms without addressing the underlying problems. As organizations begin to understand that data practices are the root causes of many business problems, they become more willing to make the required investments. However, we need to also approach them. The No. 1 reason that data programs fail to deliver is that they do not set or measure specific objectives that are meaningful to management. While there are opportunities to assist at the project level, data improvements are better able to be leveraged at the organization level. An improvable, dedicated data program can only be achieved by repeated application of data practices in service of specific business objectives. Data improvements typically do not maintain an ROI calculation. ROIs expressed in terms that board/executive management cares about deeply ensure data program viability. Improving organizational execution of specific data practice improvements must lead directly to specific improvements in organizational KPIs. While organizations may not be currently practiced in this ability, it is quite easy to learn. This presentation uses a number of specific examples calculating the business impact of data improvements. Program learning objectives include:

Data Analytics is already beginning to impact how projects are delivered. We can now automate minute taking and capturing actions, we can use Flow to progress chase, Power BI reduces the burden of reporting.
But we are just scratching the surface. It won¨t be long before we can leverage the rich dataset of experience to predict what risks are likely to occur, understand which WBS elements will be susceptible to variance, deduce what the optimum resource profile looks like, define a schedule by leveraging data from those projects that have gone before.
The role of a project professional is about to change dramatically. In this webinar we will explore the challenges and opportunities, and how we should respond. It¨s a call-to-action for the community to mobilise, help to reshape project delivery and understand the implications for you and your organisation.
Presenter Martin Paver is a Chartered Project Professional, APM Fellow and Chartered Engineer. In December 2017 he established the London Project Data Analytics meetup which has quickly spread across the UK and expanded to 3000+ members. Martin has major project experience including leading a $billion projects with a team of 220 and a multi-billion PMO with a team of 50. He has a detailed grasp of project management and combines this with a broad understanding of recent developments in the field of data science. He is on a mission to ensure that the project management profession readies itself for a transformed future.

We won't be able to scale AI or other emerging tech without knowledge graphs, because those techs all require a transformed data foundation, large-scale integration, and shared data infrastructure.
Key to knowledge graphs are #semantics, #graphdatabase technology and a Tinker Toy-style approach to adding the missing verbs (which provide connections and context) back into your data. A knowledge graph foundation provides a means of contextualizing business domains, your content and other data, for #AI at scale.

Join us and learn how you can better align your Data Management projects with business objectives to justify funding and gain management approval. Failure to successfully monetize Data Management investments sets up an unfortunate loop of fixing symptoms without addressing the underlying problems. As organizations begin to understand that data practices are the root causes of many business problems, they become more willing to make the required investments. However, we need to also approach them. The No. 1 reason that data programs fail to deliver is that they do not set or measure specific objectives that are meaningful to management. While there are opportunities to assist at the project level, data improvements are better able to be leveraged at the organization level. An improvable, dedicated data program can only be achieved by repeated application of data practices in service of specific business objectives. Data improvements typically do not maintain an ROI calculation. ROIs expressed in terms that board/executive management cares about deeply ensure data program viability. Improving organizational execution of specific data practice improvements must lead directly to specific improvements in organizational KPIs. While organizations may not be currently practiced in this ability, it is quite easy to learn. Data Analytics is already beginning to impact how projects are delivered. We can now automate minute taking and capturing actions, we can use Flow to progress chase, Power BI reduces the burden of reporting.
But we are just scratching the surface. It won¨t be long before we can leverage the rich dataset of experience to predict what risks are likely to occur, understand which WBS elements will be susceptible to variance, deduce what the optimum resource profile looks like, define a schedule by leveraging data from those projects that have gone before.
The role of a project professional is about to change dramatically. In this webinar we will explore the challenges and opportunities, and how we should respond. Presenter Martin Paver is a Chartered Project Professional, APM Fellow and Chartered Engineer. Martin has major project experience including leading a $billion projects with a team of 220 and a multi-billion PMO with a team of 50. He has a detailed grasp of project management and combines this with a broad understanding of recent developments in the field of data science.
