businessman is very plain and
boring. The media teacher
Mike says that the school
should hopefully have one
that we can use. We want a notebook with pencils
and pens for the businessman to
write on as we can show his stress
and frustration he has. To get this
we can find this around school as
this is easily available.
We were thinking of having a
photo frame with no photo
inside it, as it builds up the
mans character as being
mysterious. To get this its very
simple as I have one back at
my boarding house that we
can use.
We want the man to have a mug on his
desk and a tea bag that he puts in it as
this is what every normal worker has on
their desk. To get this we can use a mug
from the kitchen and I have tea bags
back at house.
We want pens, pencils and
highlighters on his desk as this is a
typical normal convention to have
at a work place desk. To get these
things my group and I will bring in
all of our normal stationary
instead of buying anymore.
We want a letter envelope
as this businessman has to
send important information
off to people. To get this is
easy as I will just bring in
some envelopes from
home.
We want to get pills in those classic prescribed pots to show that
this man has an illness, OCD. Then we were thinking of having a
bowl of the pills as its really odd for a grown man to put his hand in
a bowl of pills, this shows that he is very strange and weird. To get
this stuff we can buy online some fake pills in bottles and just make
the audience feel and pretend they are real.

We spend much of our lives at our jobs, so choosing the right career is one of the most important decisions we will make. To do your job well and earn good money, you must like your work and come to it with a positive attitude focused on the job. Many people work not just for money but to help others as firefighters, doctors, and teachers, so we should respect these vital roles. It is difficult now to find good jobs as companies seek experienced, well-educated candidates, so students must study hard. While degrees are important, life experience also matters, so maintaining enthusiasm for your work like SpongeBob is valuable.

It also dispels the widely held (media) view that AI will destroy jobs and displace people on a socially damaging scale. The really serious threat scenarios actually remain the domain of human players, and not as depicted by some Hollywood dystopian ‘machines take over’ nightmare! “Primarily seeing AI as a downsizing opportunity is to miss the key point: by empowering employees it is the biggest growth agent!” The nonsensical nature of ‘AI v human supremacy arguments’ also distract from the symbiotic relationships we are forging. This is especially evident when confronted by complexity beyond our natural abilities. For example: procurement and supply chains may now see >>60 independent variables (features and parameters) with many requiring real time control. Humans can typically cope with 5 - 7, whilst our mathematical framework fails at 5. This primal limiter also compounds the risks involved in designing for: optimisation v brittleness v resilience In this context, the digitisation process is largely regarded as an ‘event instead of a continuum’ and this greatly exacerbates the risks involved. This is illustrated against the backdrop of several past tech-revolutions and the changes they invoked. Two ongoing revolutions are also included with ‘projections’ for likely futures/outcomes. The closing remarks remind the audience of just one observation that we all need to keep in mind: “Things that think want to link and Things that link want to think”

How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow

Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits. To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups. Technology For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did. While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis. Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad. Age and Gender When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same. Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers. Race Affects Attitudes As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

4. Photos of props: We want an old PC computer to show that this businessman is very plain and boring. The media teacher Mike says that the school should hopefully have one that we can use. We want a notebook with pencils and pens for the businessman to write on as we can show his stress and frustration he has. To get this we can find this around school as this is easily available. We were thinking of having a photo frame with no photo inside it, as it builds up the mans character as being mysterious. To get this its very simple as I have one back at my boarding house that we can use. We want the man to have a mug on his desk and a tea bag that he puts in it as this is what every normal worker has on their desk. To get this we can use a mug from the kitchen and I have tea bags back at house. We want pens, pencils and highlighters on his desk as this is a typical normal convention to have at a work place desk. To get these things my group and I will bring in all of our normal stationary instead of buying anymore. We want a letter envelope as this businessman has to send important information off to people. To get this is easy as I will just bring in some envelopes from home. We want to get pills in those classic prescribed pots to show that this man has an illness, OCD. Then we were thinking of having a bowl of the pills as its really odd for a grown man to put his hand in a bowl of pills, this shows that he is very strange and weird. To get this stuff we can buy online some fake pills in bottles and just make the audience feel and pretend they are real.
