The Author had opportunity to introduce community based
vocational training (CBVT) while working in Ahmedabad at
Pirana ( 18 Kms) in 1989.
Since then several such programs were conducted by the
Author in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Over 250 modules have been developed covering many
traditional, urban and rural based, technical, non technical,
animal husbandry, poultry, farm equipment and agricultural
operations.
Education is not a constraint. Training is provided suited to
abilities.

Vocational Rehabilitation" is marketing a concept. Something akin to
"cleanliness
Only difference is while the manufacturer can predict the life and
behaviour of their product, the Vocational Rehabilitation Worker (VRW)
can only vouch for the present
S/he cannot predict the future behaviour of the Persons with Disabilities
(PWD)- as the pwd is not a product - but a human being who grows and
instinctively reacts/ relates to the social and work environment and the
changes that follow
The VRW is conscious about it and assurances to the employers are
given realistically
