Pythagoras’s Affects on our World Today! By: Laura S, Jessie V, Adam B, Isra A, and Dan E.
Uses in Everyday Life You can use the Pythagorean Theorem to: 1.) Find the answers about the baseball diamond. Ex. How far does a catcher have to throw the ball to get from home plate to second base? 2.) The theorem could determine what kind of ladder would you need when you need to get to your roof. 3.) You could use it to determine the difference between people (height, weight, and age) 4.) Also, you could use the theorem to find the differences from two different places.
Building Another way how we use the Pythagorean Theorem in modern day! The picture to right shows excavating putting in flooring deals with squares and triangles using the Pythagorean Theorem. Some builders use this formula, because they can find the missing sides. So as you can see, the Pythagorean Theorem is used in building houses and buildings. This is one way we use the formula in the modern day.
Art Pythagoras greatly admired the arts and even thought of himself as an artist. Pythagoras had created the triangle and the ideas on how to use it. Some artists use the triangle as a drawing tool. Artists use the triangle as pieces in a mosaic or the shape in drawings. Pythagoras thought that without art and math, life would not be normal and harder to live.
Mathematics Today The Pythagorean theorem is a very important part of many fields of mathematics. The theorem is the basis of trigonometry. Using the theorems arithmetic form, it connects algebra an geometry. Pythagorean’s theorem is linked to fractal geometry. "The area of the square built upon the hypotenuse of a right triangle is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares upon the remaining sides."
Some More Uses… Triangulation, helps in today to locate a cell phone making an emergency call. It might use the Law of Sines to find the phone. The law of cosines can reduce to the Pythagorean theorem. His theorem is not only important in 2-D geometry, but also important in 3-D geometry. Video games environments are drawn in 3-D using all triangles .
