improvement in all types of business.
5S was developed in Japan and stands for the
Japanese words
Seiri (tidiness)
 Seiton (orderliness)
seiso (cleanliness)
seiketsu (standardization)
 shitsuke (discipline).
SORT
The first step in making things cleaned up and organized. This
Improves efficiency, helps increase quality, and makes it
Simpler. To spot problems and enhances productivity.
SET
Organize, identify and arrange everything in a work area.
SHINE
Regular cleaning and maintenance.
STANDARDIZE
Make it easy to maintain - simplify and standardize.
SUSTAIN
Maintaining what has been accomplished.

SORT
1.The street should have a divider so
that the two way traffic flows
smoothly.
2.If construction is going on, proper
traffic signs should be used to
avoid chaos.
STRAIGHTEN
1. Park the vehicles in an ordered
manner so that its easy to find
out the vehicle
2. Segment the parking areas.
3. Proper parking place should be
provided like the parking area
should be at some distance from
the departments or buildings .
4. Students and faculty should have
different parking areas.
SHINE 1.Sweeping of the roads
should be done regularly.
2.Dustbins should be
provided.
3.Proper maintenance of
roads should be there to
avoid accidents.
4.Students should be
reminded of throwing
garbage in bins with the
help of posters.
STANDARDIZE
1.Students should be made aware of the
harm that may be caused by the
unhygienic environment by throwing
garbage on street through nukkad nataks,
plays ,etc.
2.Streets should be broad so that the traffic
flows in an organised manner.
3. Benches should be there for sitting
purpose.
SUSTAIN
1.Dustbins should be provided on
streets for throwing garbage so that
our streets are maintained.
2.A Road maintenance college
committee should be formed to
keep regular check on streets.
LESSONS LEARNED BY USLESSONS LEARNED BY US
1. By this challenge , we get to know that how important is
the street maintenance.
2. We learnt identifying problems by critically analysing it.
3. We also learnt about 5S , and applied it on the street.
4. This challenge helped us in realising that if the streets
are maintained properly then all the street related
problems can be eleminated.
