This document discusses problems with the current system for communication between schools and parents in Finland. There is a lack of a centralized channel, difficulties delivering information to parents and collecting feedback. The only available solution is provided by a private company used in 3,400 schools. Several cities are now looking for alternative solutions and developing new projects with millions of euros in funding. Research shows parental engagement is associated with higher academic achievement and satisfaction among parents, teachers and students. A survey found Finnish teachers report heavy workloads and stress. The solution proposes a centralized, mobile-first communication platform to improve transparency and avoid vendor lock-in.
