HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT REPRESENT
PARTICULAR SOCIAL
GROUPS?
Mia Louise Matthews
My music genre is hip hop. I ensured my magazine
appealed to hip hop fans and people interested in hip
hop music and the artists featured within the magazine.
My magazine isnt biased or sexist; I have targeted mine
at both males and females. In my opinion I think majority
of my readers would be aged between 16-26 seeing as it
is aimed at people 16-30 although as a smaller
percentage of adults above 30 arent as interested in hip
hop. I feel as if they wouldnt enjoy the magazine
because articles relate to more younger fans resulting in
me creating these images which would appeal to this
social group.
Although my magazine isnt biased, sexist or racist it does
however connote this stereotype of a hip hop artist, a black
male, very stylish in the world of hip. I think this would particularly
appeal to many hip hop fans as it is very similar to an actual
magazine in the market. The pictures I created are appropriate
for my target audience and the eye of the reader, the
language used as well is appropriate for my social group as
there is nothing too colourful as I have had to take into
consideration that there could be the odd younger reader.
Overall, I think that these elements of the photos represent
something quite independent and confident something that
many fans can relate to and, the social group who would read
my magazine would have that independence and confidence,
my magazine reflects this type of personality throughout.
