The target audience for the media product is 16 to 30 year old females based on questionnaires completed by a variety of people. Most respondents were between 16 and 18 years old and female. The goal is to expand the target audience by including articles that appeal to a wider age range. An online tool called YouGov was used to get information on the interests, hobbies, favorite foods and entertainment of students to help identify content that could engage more of the target demographic and increase readership.
2. Who would be your audience for your
media product?
• The target audience for my media product would be female 16 to 30 year
olds. I achieved this conclusion due to studying answers on
questionnaires that I had people fill out. I had a good variety of different
answers but the majority of the audience were between 16 and 18 years
old. They were also female. I would although, like to expand this target
audience by including articles of interest for a wider age range. In order
to expand my target audience I used the internet tool, You Gov. I typed
‘student’ into the search bar and an image of a student came up, telling
me their social demographic, interests, hobbies, favourite foods,
favourite television shows, favourite artists, actors and music. All of this
information was extremely helpful as it helped me to see what my
audience were interested in so that I could include these things in my
magazine and therefore, hopefully, expand my target audience and
readership.

provided in the previous slide, You can click
on things like ‘entertainment’ in order to find
out what television shows, actors and singers
the general student body are interested in at
the moment. I found this tool very, very
useful.
