An Ohio couple, Carolyn and her husband, were mistakenly implanted with the wrong frozen embryo and are expected to give birth soon. The biological parents, Paul and Shannon Morell, were informed of the mix-up. Though they could have aborted, the Salvage couple decided to carry the baby to term and give him to the Morells. They have hired lawyers to ensure the out-of-state fertility clinic takes responsibility for the error.

Ohio Couple Announce to Give Up Baby after Clinic Mix-Up Carolyn Salvage was impregnated with the wrong frozen embryo in February and is expected to give birth in the next couple of weeks. The biological parents, Paul and Shannon Morell, were preparing to start the process of having another baby when they got a call from the clinic. The Salvage couple decided not to abort, to carry the baby to term, and that they would give the baby to his (it ’s a boy!) biological parents, the Morells. The Salvages would not name the fertility clinic at fault, but said it was not in Ohio, and that they have hired attorneys to make sure the clinic takes full responsibility.

That ’s Not My Baby… Past Embryo Mix-Ups In 1998, a white New York woman gave birth to a black couple ’s baby, ending in two years of court fighting for visitation rights. In 2004, a woman in California was awarded $1 million after she was impregnated with the wrong embryos and the doctor responsible tried to hid the information until her baby was 10 months old. In 2009, a Japanese woman aborted her pregnancy after being told that there was an embryo mix-up at a government-run hospital.
