During Spread the Word to End the Word week, a student group at their school held activities to educate about stopping the use of the R-word. They showed video clips in class about the harmful effects. They set up a booth where students could pledge to remove the word from their vocabulary. Many students, teachers, and administrators signed the pledge. The group drew names of pledges to win prizes and made a large poster of the pledges to display.
