There is a difference between Zakat and tax from an Islamic accounting perspective. Zakat is a religious obligation for Muslims to purify wealth, whereas tax is a secular obligation imposed by governments. This study aims to clarify the conceptual differences between Zakat and tax to address confusion and further the new field of research on Islamic accounting.
