• Types Of Finishing.
• What is the finishing.
Finishing determines the appearance of the final surface of the
leather and the surface of the leather and the surface properties.
This includes colouring, waterproofing, wax dressings, but also
mechanical processing stages such as ironing or embossing of the
leather.
For example:
• Why we do finishing.
The purpose of finish is done in order to enhance certain qualities
And characteristics for example protecting the leather look and feel
By providing a texture which is waxier and smother.
There are different types of finished leather…
• Types Of Finishing.
The most common categories of leather finishes are…
• Aniline
• Semi-Aniline
• Pigmented
Aniline Finish : Only the highest quality Full Grain Leather can receive an
Aniline Finish. This is because the grain remains exposed,
And must have as few blemishes as possible.
Aniline finishing involves using aniline dyes, which are water
Soluble pigments.

Semi-Aniline Finish:
Semi-Aniline leather leaves the grain exposed,But has a thin
protective/corrective layer.
Semi- Aniline finishes are applied to full grain leathers, with only a
small amount of pigment being used .
Semi-Aniline leather is a good fit for those who want high quality
Leather without the frequent maintenance.

Pigmented Full Grain Leather:
While this type of leather finish requires a heavier layer of material
To mask details than Semi-Aniline finishes, it is still made of high-
quality Full Grain Leather. A resin- based pigment is applied to hide
defects, but it still maintain the look and feel of a quality product.
This finish does not leave the pores visible, and hides the natural
colour variations in the leather. The colour and surface are uniform
And evenly coated with pigment, giving it great light fastness and stain
Resistance.

• Which type of leather article are finished by which type of
finishing process.
Aniline Finish
• Aniline finished leather are very soft, most pilable finishes, it is well suited
for application.
• This makes it great for clothing, shoes, and small accessories like belts and
wallets.
Semi Aniline Finish:
• Semi-Aniline leather is perfect for those who want high-
quality leather without the maintenance.
• It is suitable for most applications, including larger items
like handbags and upholstery.
Pigmented Full Grain Leather:
• This is one of the most common high quality leather finishes. It’s preferable
for most people because it requires little maintenance and is more durable
than the non pigmented leathers.
• It is not as soft as the aniline leathers, but its stiffness and thicker topcoat
allow it to hold up to rougher use without as much upkeep.
• This sturdiness makes it ideal for everyday accessories and those that
experience frequent year.
