First of all welcome to INDIA. We at AIESEC in Jalandhar want
your stay in this country, as well as in our LC, to be one of the
most satisfying experiences you will have. Our AIESEC LC is located
in Indias most growing state, Punjab. Bordering Pakistan, it is
mainly an agricultural state and it is well known for its culture
and unique ways. AIESEC entered Jalandhar through memorandum
of understanding and later on became an LC in June 2010.

The colors of the Indian flag stand for :

The national emblem is a replica of the Lion of Sanarth, near
Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. It is basically a symbol of Indias
reaffirmation of its ancient commitment to world peace and
goodwill.
The motto Satyameva Jayate inscribed below the emblem in
Devanagari script means Truth Alone Triumphs.
The lotus or lily is the national flower. In India, the sacred
lotus is legendary and much folklore and mythology is woven
around it.

Located in the Northwestern part of India, Punjab is its
most economically prominent State.
Considered the Land of Sikhs for its high population of

Its is mostly an agricultural State and shares its capital,
Chandigarh, with brother state Haryana.
It delimits the State of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh,
Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Territory of Chandigarh,
and Pakistan.
Has 4 divisions and 20 districts.
Its three main languages are : Hindi, Punjabi and
English.
Amongst its prides, its the Harmandir Sahib or Darbar
Sahib, although most popularly known as the Sikh
Golden Temple. Located in Amritsar, and made of 24
carat gold, built on 1574 AD

Punjab culture is very traditional and promotes
respect and welcome to anyone, whether youre a
foreigner or a national.
Punjab is one of the areas that has the highest amount
of people living abroad, thus most of the Indian
tradition that is observed in the international arena is
Punjabi.
Although mostly vegetarian, Punjabi cuisine is well-
known for its Tandoori Chicken.
Among its most popular dances is Bhangra
Because of its agricultural background, it is very
common to see crops of any kind in the horizon.

has half a day to spare, this is a must see. It is one man's creation in five years
totally with voluntary support. A monument which makes every Indian proud!

Description: Construction on this sandstone minaret was begun in 1192. Surrounded
by other historical sites, it is the most popular monument in India.

16. FROM AMRITSAR OR DELHIFROM AMRITSAR OR DELHI
TRAIN
There is a number of trains that travel from New Delhi to Amritsar/Chandigarh and then to Jalandhar.
The timings can be checked at The Indian Railway Webpage.
If you run into any problems, you may go to the Foreign Tourist Office in the second floor
(openfrom9amto5pm). Dont listen to any one that tells you it is closed. You may also call for assistance
in one of the calling booths in the Station.
PLANE
You can get your travel agent to also book a flight from the Delhi Airport to Amritsars or book it to
come directly to Amritsar. Jalandhars closest airport is Amritsars.
If youre catching a connecting flight, get your luggage, catch the Shuttle bus to the domestic terminal,
show your ticket, go and board.
BUS
It is the cheapest and the most convenient way to travel from Delhi to Jalandhar. It takes around 6-7
hours from to get from Delhi.

Libra Travels: Non A/C. It leaves at 10pm from Azad Market. It costs Rs.220/$4.60
