ThecompanyincreasedU.S.Dept.of Defense(DOD)workcapabilitybyupgradingto the Mil-l45208quality assurancelevel.Thiswasdonewiththeacquisitionof aCoordinateMeasuringMachine,a newlyconstructed environmentallycontrolledtestingroom,anda DODapprovedwrittenQAproceduresmanual.Webegan modernizationoftheshopfloorwithacquisitionof CNCmachinery.Weaddedtheearliestpersonalcomputersto theofficelearningto usevariousspreadsheet,wordprocessing,andaccountingsoftwareatatimewhenthese toolswereintheirinfancy.Wejointlypreparedmarketing,finance,andbusinessplans.Weusedandpresented theseplansobtaining;agrant,bridgeloans,contractfinancingloans,andrepeatedfinancingfrommultiplesources includingtheMDSmall.BusinessDevelopmentFinancingAuthority(MSBDFA).Mikewasableto bringthe accountingupto a levelwherewewereapprovedfor progresspaymentsbythegovernment.Webuilta pipeline ofseveralsmalldefensecontractswhilepursuingan8(a)set-asidemulti-milliondollarcontractaward. Ultimately,wewereobedientto astrategicdecisionmadeto pursuethemajor8(a)awardatallcosts.Tothisday webelievetheprocurementeffortwasintentionallystalled.Weenlistedcongressionaladvocaryassistancefrom theofficesofthe honorableSenatorsMikulskiandSarbanes.Mike'sabilityto communicateinwritingwas effectivein obtainingthisassistance.Intheendwewereunableto obtaintheprocurementaward. I recommendMikeasawelcomedadditionto anyworkforce.Hehasprovenhimselfto beavaluableteam member.Wesharea commonworkethicandconstructiveattitudes.Weshareacquiredknowledgeand experiencesduringourtimeworkingtogetherwhichhasserveduswell.
