Reflection on the Making of Personal Lifelong Learning Plan (PPLP)
In making my Personal Lifelong Learning Plan (PPLP), there were many things I need to consider. The words personal, lifelong learning,
and plan were essential as foundations in achieving my goals to become an efficient 21st century teacher. It will help me focus on achieving my
target. The matrix in PPLP has components intended to assess needs, identify actions, and specify a timeframe.
The Personal Lifelong Learning Plan (PPLP) has made me realize how efficient I am as a teacher in the 21st century. At first, I was hesitant
in writing the different parts of the matrix. I need to recall the seven century literacies without scanning my notes. It took me an hour to remember
all of those. Upon writing the literacies, I came up to my senses on the level my competence in each area. I really need to reassess myself. I need
to be honest in filling in each entry as it is my personal plan for lifelong learning. I use the PLLP Rubric/Level of Competency as a guide in
assessing myself. There were times that I became doubtful in answering this part because I think I was too subjective. I asked my colleagues about
their assessment of my competence in each area. I was amazed at how they rated me. They even told me that I am already a 21st century teacher.
That time, I have the confidence in writing my level of competence for each literacy. In the third column, I also find it challenging to identify the
specific KSAVs where I believe I need to improve or enhance. I need to be specific in identifying these areas to be able to come up with the
learning activities in response to the identified KSAVs. I only wrote the salient area which I think is of more importance. In the fourth column, I
created a list of activities to do to address the KSAVs. I make sure that these activities could be achieved within the scope of my capability and
potential. The fourth column is the easiest part to do. I think I am good at identifying the resources need to accomplish the mentioned activities. It
is probably because of my experience in organizing different events. The sixth column has made me emotional. I thought of the possible hindrances
that could prevent me from doing the different activities. The resources I usually need were funds and moral support. I just remembered when I
organized an activity in our school, less support was provided. At that moment, I really need much support from my colleagues since it was my
first year as a public school teacher. No one has guided me on what to do. I looked for all the resources I could get from other people. I did
solicitations from different establishments. I formed different teams composed of students only since most of the teachers are reluctant to help me.
But in the end, I found strength from God. In fact, the event was surprisingly successful. Everyone congratulated me especially, the administrators.
With this experience, in doing the last column in PPLP, I was able to find actions and solutions to the possible barriers and challenges in the self-
learning activities mentioned in column 5.
My whole experience in making my PPLP was memorable. It struck my emotions, ability, and intelligence as these influence my actions
in completing my PPLP. My PPLP doesn't mean I should only be working within the given timeframe. Instead, it will help me measure if I have
attained all the self-learning activities within the specified dates. If not, I will revisit the modules and ask assistance from my colleagues to achieve
my goals. I need to continue to be a lifelong learner to cope up with the demands of society and adapt to the global world. According to Stahl
(2015), ones new experience must work in conjunction with what was being experienced as it will impact our future. With this statement, I look
forward to becoming a better and productive individual who can transfer my learning to other people.
