The document contains responses from Brendan Hardie to reflection questions about a film project. In the first response, Brendan explains that the film is a drama that represents teenagers feeling vulnerable internally despite putting on a happy face. It exposes the real issue of bullying. The second response discusses how the film sequence engages audiences aged 13 and up by exposing vulnerability and ending on a cliffhanger. Brendan would initially distribute it to a few schools to inform people that bullying hurts. The third response outlines how the project helped Brendan's production skills by bringing his ideas to life with actor input, focusing on lighting, and finding the right makeup for a scene involving self-harm. The final response lists the technologies used
2. Q1: How does your product use or challenge
conventions and how does it represent social
groups or issues?
? My film is a drama, it has a very vulnerable mood and also a mood
of suspense as a drama should have.
? My opening sequence represents teen in both middle and high
school. It represents how teen feel on the inside at times. Teens tend
to hide their feelings from the world and put a smile on their face
and say that everything is okay. But in my opening sequence it
shows that no matter how much you try to hide you pain there will
always be that one person that sees how you feel and will try their
best to help you and fix the problems. I feel that it exposes the real
issue of bullying and how it can affect an individual.
3. Q2: How does your product engage with
audiences and how would it be distributed as
a real media text?
? My sequence engages with people of 13 and up. It exposes a sense
of vulnerability of an individual. The ending is kind of like a cliff
hanger, it will make you want to know what type of relationship
Megan and Jake will have and how he helps her.
? This video could be used in schools and camps to show that bullying
is not a fun thing to do and it can really hurt someone. I would bring
it first to very few schools and use it as a way to inform people of all
ages how bullying is hurtful and is no way of living a healthy life.
4. Q3: How did your production skills develop
throughout this project?
? During the process of filing I have found out many different things
that can be used.
? It allowed me to see how my ideas can come to life but also allow a
little of the actors ideas come to life on the screen as well.
? Lighting was a big part of the production and if you look at a
previous video (Behind The Scenes) you will see how I chose the
lighting. Also with the self-harming of Megan, trying to find what
makeup I wanted to use was a big deal. I tried about 5 different
ways to make the fake blood.
? I find directing a very fun job, producing a little stressful and editing I
think is a very stressful job but my favorite part is being able to make
it my own.
5. Q4: How did you integrate technologies ¨C
software, hardware, and online ¨C in this
project?
? For some of the sounds like dialogue I used a microphone that plugs
into my Sony HD camcorder. I also used Wordpress to allow my
teacher and Cambridge to view my project. A camcorder, Pinnacle
Studio to edit the footage and iTunes to get an instrumental for
background music which were all used to make this all possible.
