Reflections of madiba
1. Reflections of Madiba
Tata Madiba your sacrifice was not vain, you gave 27yrs in prison so I
may live today at the beach that was previously "Whites Only." Now I
can bathe in the ocean without persecution and fear of police brutality.
Because of you, I live where I couldn't even dream of walking before.
Your Vision for Unity brought forgiveness as I've watched my friends
shot and killed for being in a gay club... I live free as a gay woman and
have the legal right to marry because you held the Vision of Equality. I
am free to walk and travel wherever I want because no prison bar could
imprison your Spirit... I can eat in any restaurant when back then our
"Non Whites" were not allowed. I have the freedom to drink water from
any tap because no more is there a " Coloured Only" drinking fountain I drink from the fountain of your love for humanity. Tata you taught me
about forgiveness that has opened my mind and heart and brought
much healing to me and my family...Nelson, I walk tall and free because
your height never crumbled under the weight of Apartheid...Mandela
you leave me breathless because every time my nieces and nephews
play at the beach with kids from all races, I am reminded of your
courage and what you did for my life and the lives of all future
generations...Mandiba I am forever grateful that you sacrificed your
freedom so that I may know what it is to Hope for a better tomorrow, to
dream of the impossible and to live a life being of service to others. The
greatest moment of my life will forever be meeting you in Atlantis in
1996, being able to hold your hand, listen to your gentle voice and see
the humility that still astounds this world. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, I
pledge to continue to live my life according to your principles and do
whatever I can to bring your Vision of a Just and United South Africa to
be...
It always seems impossible until it's done" Mandiba. We love you and
you live in our hearts forever. Hamba kahle, Mandela.
