This document summarizes solutions developed by the National Geospatial Technology Center of Excellence to support remote access to GIS applications and resources for community college students. It outlines issues with requiring on-campus software installations and limited web-based tools. The solutions developed were a virtual terminal server allowing remote access to full GIS software and a web-accessible storage server providing basemaps and shapefiles to eliminate time spent finding data files. These solutions aimed to expand access to GIS education for community college students.
