This document discusses renal transplant procedures and follow up. It begins by defining kidney transplantation as the transplant of a kidney from a living or deceased donor into a patient with end-stage renal disease. It then explains some techniques used in transplantation like clamping the donor's vessels and anastomosis of the ureter to the bladder. The document also notes that recipients who recover well can expect 10-30+ years of good life with the donor's kidney, especially if the donation was from a sibling. It concludes by thanking the audience.

2. Renal Transplant
Kidney transplantation or renal
transplantation is the organ transplant of
a kidney into a patient with end-stage renal
disease. Kidney transplantation is typically
classified as deceased-donor (formerly
known as cadaveric) or living-donor
transplantation depending on the source of
the donor organ.
3. Renal Transplant
Living-donor renal transplants are further
characterized as genetically related (living-
related) or non-related (living-unrelated)
transplants, depending on whether a
biological relationship exists between the
donor and recipient.
21. Adopt A Healthy Lifestyle
Usually Major lifestyle changes are not
required after full recovery!!!
But its important to adopt a healthy lifestyle
nonetheless.
Recipients who recover well would usually
have 10 30+ years of a good life with their
donors kidney depending on who donated.
Its usually longer if the donation was from a
sibling
