- 1. My Austin Colony Rene Hidrogo
- 2. My arrival I came to Texas to settle and grow crops to make money so I can develop a successful future as a cattle grower and buyer/seller. And I had arrived there from horseback with a large cart. Also, I have qualified for this land because Im an honest man and I can work hard and achieve my responsibilities of being a land owner and citizen. And Ive had qualified for 2000 acres of land. It was harsh and pretty hot on horseback with a large cart attached to it, but I made it through the hot temperatures.

My visit At first when I came to Austins Colony I thought that this was going to be a bust and that Im going to waste all my money on something that Isn't going to be successful in this Colony and this might be a waste of time. But as I got to know this Colony and as I got around this place, and I noticed that this place Isnt too bad and that theres some chance that Im might be successful.
- 4. 1822 In this year I had a total of 1,000 dollars to invest. And Im gong to determine my acreage by using the number of my family to see how much land I qualify. So I qualified for 1680 acres because I have 1 adult male, 1 wife, 4 children, 1 pet. And since its 12 cents per acre, which was a total of 201.60 dollars and 67.20 dollars per yearly payments. So I started with 1,000 dollars and I subtracted 67.20 dollars for my payment and I was left with 932.80 dollars and an average of 1680 acres. I am going to raise 5 acres of cotton, lumber, and 7 acres of cattle, and ended up costing me 120 dollars worth of crops. So my investment return was x1 for cotton x3 for lumber and x1 for cattle. And I got a total gross income of 170 dollars and now I have a balance of 982.80 dollars.
- 5. 1822 So its the end of the year and I have to pay my land with 67.20 dollars and now I have a bank balance of 915.60. And for the past time this year I have realized that I have made some exceptional process in this Colony.
- 6. 1823 So trouble in Mexico made export of cotton difficult and the investment return for cotton was x0 and for lumber it slacked since Mexico was discouraged more and had a x1 investment return and it was a good year for cattle and I got an investment return of x3. So my total investment in crops was 500 dollars and got a total gross income of 750 dollars, for a total return and bank balance of 1165. 60 dollars. And then the rest of the year there was no crops and had a still a total of 1165.60 dollars in my bank.
- 7. 1823 And then the rest of the year there was no crops and had a still a total of 1165.60 dollars in my bank. And so far at the end of this year I have fully changed my mind about this Colony and that I would resume in my successful progress.
- 8. 1824 It was time for my 3rd land payment of 67,20 dollars and I subtracted that from my bank balance and now I have a total of 1098.40 dollars. So the last and final year I invest 1000 dollars in crops. So 60 acres in cotton, 60 acres in lumber, and 40 acres in cattle. And the time past and my investments returns came in and I got x3 because the Mexicans were being a little friendlier. And for lumber I got x2 and cattle x2. So my total gross income of crops was 2100 dollars. And I had 98.40 dollars worth in my bank balance of 2198.40 dollars.
- 9. 1824 So at the end of the last year, I decided to resume living in San Felipe and I got a bonus of 600 dollars and ended up with a final profit of $2798.40.
- 10. Conclusion of 3 years in Austins Colony So I finished everything and I was very successful from the last 3 years and I was happy with the total bank balance of $2798.40. And Ive realized that you shouldnt be a a person that reads books by the cover or something like that. You should just know that you can be trustful in any situation.
- 11. Conclusion of 3 years in Austins Colony And I am staying in San Felipe in Austins Colony. And now were in San Felipe to create a better future and hopefully create a better life in this Colony.
