Telefónica has launched today in Girona the thirteenth edition of the report "The
Information Society in Spain" for 2012, which was been attended by the Regional Minister
for Enterprise and Employment of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Felip Puig, who chaired
the event, the mayor of Girona, Carles Puigdemont, the General Manager of Telefónica in
Catalonia, Kim Faura, the Business Director of Telefónica in Catalonia, Enrique Santiago,
and the President at AED in Catalonia, Albert Pèlach.
Once again, the report includes the main technological milestones that occurred in the
country, as well as developments in the adoption of new technologies by users. As in past
years, this year was ben marked by the economic situation, which has led to significant
development as falling prices in the services to adapt to the environment. Yet another
trend is that, despite the slow progress, the sector has maintained its level of investment
in the deployment and implementation of new tools and networks. Unlike other sectors,
telecommunications are characterized by constant technological development requiring
infrastructure renewal.
