The two-day Programme and Performance Budget Hand Holding workshop was held in Ranchi, Jharkhand in February 2010. It was attended by 23 task force members from five pilot districts. The objectives of the workshop were to present PPB elements and draft descriptive pages, discuss and provide feedback on the draft, and finalize the draft for use at the district level. Participants worked in groups on the first day to complete budget descriptive pages in the PPB format with assistance from district advisors. On the second day, there were further group discussions and presentations of budget summary pages for feedback. The workshop aimed to facilitate the implementation of PPB in the health sector in Jharkhand.

Workshops Summary: The Programme and Performance Budget Hand Holding workshop held on February9-10, 2010 at Hotel Capitol Hill Ranchi. It was attended by the Task force members numbering 23 from five pilot districts viz. Latehar, Gumla, Ramgarh, Khunti and Deoghar. Dr. Vijay Prakash Sharma, Senior Technical Advisor PPB facilitated the workshop using WPPF methodology of participatory and adult learning. The presentations on the first day of the workshop related to PPB narrative elements, the second day was the day of working exercises and the groups completed budget descriptive pages in PPB format. They were assisted by DALs of respective districts. Dr. Manju Shukla, State Director, Vistaar Project Jharkhand, thanked the participants for their presence in the workshop in spite of Naxal Bandh call and encouraging Vistaar team. She also emphasized the importance of using PPB document for monitoring and evaluation of the programme at the district level.
