Filipinos enjoy eating frequent small meals and snacks throughout the day. Suman, a traditional Filipino snack made of glutinous rice, brown sugar, and coconut milk wrapped in banana leaves, is both affordable and nutritious. Researchers developed a new version of suman called "Suman con Halo-halo" by adding the ingredients of halo-halo, a popular Filipino dessert of shaved ice, evaporated milk, and tropical fruits, into suman. Their objectives were to determine the acceptability of Suman con Halo-halo and improve the quality of suman by combining it with fruits.

1. Suman con Halo-halo
I. Introduction
Filipinos are well-known for being a food lover. This could be observed through the
habitual times Filipinos are eating which averages to six times a day from breakfast to
midnight snack before they are going to bed. People are fun of eating snacks while they are
doing something, they want to eat finger foods like peanuts, bananas, strawberries and
others that stave off hungers and promotes weight loss.
Filipinos are fun of discovering new dishes as long as it satisfies their taste buds. Many
people preferred to eat food that is known as affordable like suman which is not only
affordable but it is also nutritious one because of its natural ingredients which is the
glutinous rice or also known as malagkit, brown sugar and coconut milk and wrapped
with banana leaves, anahaw, palm leaves and bamboo leaves .
Suman is a healthful delicacy that can be shared with friends or family members
during snack time. Just like many delicacies, suman in general is known for its numerous
varieties which almost every town or locality having its specialty. In the Philippines you
can taste the different varieties of suman like suman sa ibus, which is ubiquitous in the said
country, suman sa inantal, suman sa binuo, suman sa lihiya and other variety of suman.
Filipinos are creative and resourceful, no doubt, because new versions of suman are
created and served to customers who want to taste something new. The researchers
embarked in conducting a research on the use of halo-halo ingredients as feelings of suman.
2. Halo-halo is one of the popular Filipino dessert or snack with the mixture of shaved
ice, evaporated and added sweet preserves other Asian tropical fruit you want to add as its
ingredients.The name halo-halo literally means mix-mix. Halo-halo is popular during the
month of hot summer (March-April) in the Philippines .It is one of the refreshment for the
summer because it gives relief from the summer heat . Halo-halo is found in a fast food
chain and halo-halo atands in rural areas.
Combining the Suman and Halo-halo as its feelings could make the suman a new
taste and with other nutrients contain by the fruits.
