IN THIS PROJECT
About the Project
Career Development and Coding
Researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison are
conducting a research study on the career development of
youth with developmental disabilities. All participants will be
asked to complete a survey three times over the summer.
We are recruiting 30 individuals to complete the initial
survey. After completing the first survey, participants will be
entered into a lottery that will select 15 individuals for an
online summer program on introduction to careers in
coding. The program will involve online coursework,
meetings with professionals working in the field, and a paid
internship.
To be eligible to take part in this study, individuals must be a
member of a diverse racial or cultural group, have a
developmental disability, be between 16-24 years of age, and
live in the City of Chicago or Cook County.

$45 in gift cards for taking three 30-
40 minute surveys ($15/survey)
Participants selected for
the summer program will

- Training in skills for work
success
- Self-advocacy training
- Motivational speakers
- Video tours of local
technology companies
- Demonstrations of coding
careers
A paid summer internship with
YOLOBE
A Chromebook that participants
keep at the end of their summer
program
