Social integration areas The Catalan libraries are meeting and integrating places for people who have just arrived to Catalonia. 50 libraries offer items in non-European Union languages There are 2,461 items at the Catalan public libraries in more than 20 languages Arab stands out with more than 1,510 items, followed by Russian, with 403 items
Newspapers of the world Available at 50 libraries Acces via satellite to the daily edition of 200 newspapers of 60 different countries in 20 languages
Opening of the Loan and Special Services Main Office It has a multicultural collection in the languages of the countries of origin of the immigrant population, that will be progressively enlarged Nowadays it includes 10,000 items approximately and in 10 years time it is expected to reach 25,000 items
Reading and library services promotion activities During 2007 more than 30,000 activities have taken place and they have been attended by more than 1 million participants
