ïƒ Verifying contract documents and identifying correct revenue recognition method as per US-GAAP.
ïƒ Coordinating with the project team in resolving issues with respect to Revenue Recognition &
Invoicing.
ïƒ Participating in month end end closure process as per the Finance Close Calendar.
ïƒ Facilitating monthly revenue flash process for the worldwide revenue, reporting the flash figures with
project level, customer level and associate level break up and making customer level variance
analysis.
ïƒ Running monthly final revenue process, passing journal entries and reconciling the revenue numbers
with GL.
ïƒ Posting monthly cost accrual entries for the sub-contractors’ cost & making loss provision for the
onerous contracts.
ïƒ Keeping track of the multi-element contracts (i.e. contracts that require different accounting
treatment to each element of services) and ensuring appropriate treatment as per group policy.
ïƒ Keeping track of the large projects that involve Knowledge Transition (KT) and suggesting the
appropriate cost and revenue treatment as per the corporate policy.
ïƒ Preparing utilization Report for all fixed bid projects which is shared with the Global Work Force
Management Team.
ïƒ Providing training to the project team, on the concepts of revenue recognition of IT /Software
related services provided by Cognizant and help them understand the end to end billing and revenue
process in PeopleSoft.
ïƒ Suggesting enhancements in PeopleSoft and coordinate with the technical team for making
enhancements and conducting Testing before the enhancements could move into production.
ïƒ Preparing quarterly audit schedules and reconciling the figures with Balance Sheet/P&L Account.
o Audit Schedule ( end to end verification of quarterly revenue and invoicing)
o Gross Margin Analysis as per management threshold. (Variance in revenue +/- USD
500K and variance in margin +/- 5%)
o Un Billed Revenue and Revenue Billed in Advance (UAR)
o Fluctuation Analysis of UBR/RBA
o UBR to be billed in the following month
o Loss Making Schedule – Making provision in the projects where there is a probable loss
