Objective
• To utilize my educational background and extensive hands-on experience for an
opportunity to have a successful, satisfying career with animals.
Experience
Lead Animal Care Technician-Plum Island Animal Disease Center Plum Island, NY
• Assigns daily tasks to animal caretakers and
conveys work instructions from the AC
Supervisor.
• Ensures work is assigned in a manner to prevent
possible cross contamination between animal
isolation rooms.
• Monitors work in progress, and evaluates work at
completion. Reports to supervisor on status and
progress of work, and any problems that
developed.
• Orders and monitors inventory of animal feed,
supplies, and equipment.
• Helps ensure environmental, occupational and
safety rules are followed, and that work with
animals is conducted as safely as possible.
• Determines amounts and types of feed for
different animal species, feeds daily, and records
on VMR.
• Observes daily appearances and behaviors of
experimental animals (both sick and healthy),
records these in VMR, and reports to higher level
employee.
• Captures, restrains, holds and positions animals
for procedures, examinations, and treatments.
• Dispenses and administers medications (e.g.
analgesics, anesthetics and antibiotics) and enters
into VMR.
• Collects blood and other tissues, labels them
correctly, and delivers expeditiously to PI.
• Euthanizes animals following prescribed
protocols.
• Dispenses carcasses and body parts following
established PIADC safety procedures.
• Cleans, decontaminates, and maintains animal
wing spaces and cages in accordance with ARB
SOPs. Operates autoclaves, pressure sprayers
and misters.
• Uses appropriate PPE and equipment as
described in ARB SOPs to protect self and fellow
workers from contamination, infection or injury.
• Enters/exits animal isolation rooms and moves
between animal rooms in strict accordance with
ARB and Safety SOPs to prevent cross
contamination.

Animal Care Technician-Plum Island Animal Disease Center Plum Island, NY
June 2014-Present
• Responsible for carrying out all
husbandry duties required by the
contract.
• Knowledgeable and able to perform all
husbandry duties in accordance with
SOPs.
• Necropsy experience.
• Familiar with the following species;
rabbits, mice, pigs, cows, sheep, horses,
and goats.
• Monitor environmental conditions, as
well as perform animal health
surveillance.
• Technical abilities such as patient
restraint, medication administration,
sample collecting, monitoring and
treating animals, as well as euthanasia.
• Maintain animal health logs and animal
room records.
Animal Keeper - Maymont Foundation Richmond, Va February, 2013-June 2014
• Responsible for food preparation and
feeding, cleaning, and enrichment,
according to USDA and AZA guidelines of
all park and farm animals including but not
limited to: American Buffalo, bobcat,
American black bears, gray fox, American
bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, red-
shouldered hawks, black vultures, barred
owl, great-horned owls, Cooper's hawk,
pygmy goats, Nigerian goats, Sicilian
donkey, chickens, and Vietnamese pot-
bellied pigs.
• Reports any concerns of animal to proper
channels along with daily reports of general
park maintenance.
• Assists veterinarian on visits such as
capturing, crating, and transporting animal.
• Assists with Education department with
programs for school groups from
kindergarten through high school.
• Maintains upkeep of all exhibits and holding
areas throughout year.
• Responsible for training and presenting
bobcat and otters to public during
presentations.
• Responsible for removal of unwanted
animals on grounds.
• Completes daily reports of animal care,
observations, enrichment, and work
accomplished.
• Responsible for inventory of all cleaning
supplies of Children's Farm and park
animals.

Farm Manager - Ice Pond Farm Fiskeville, RI 2007-2013
• Assist in the husbandry, showing and
breeding of alpacas.
• Responsibilities include: halter training, feed
and hay analysis, parasite identification and
control, breeding and neonatal care, monthly
injections, shearing and fiber analysis as
well as daily husbandry.
Farmhand - Pat’s Pastured East Greenwich, RI 2012-2013
• Processing of chicken, turkeys, and pigs
• Feeding and maintenance of animals such as
pigs, sheep, cows, chickens, turkeys, and
dogs.
• Using vehicles such as tractors and work
trucks to help maintain animals and pasture.
