Work Experience
Contract Designer
June 2014-present
Design a chain ratchet from inventor's concept using Solidworks Premium
 Design to U.S. Navy specs
Provide technical data and drawings for patten procedure
Work both independently and in collaboration with inventor
Regal Machine, Wyoming, Minnesota
CNC Programmer-Operator
1990-2014
Regal Machine is a certified ISO-9001 job shop that has the of reputation of producing high quality parts and
assemblies. My primary duties involved getting the stock and the print for a part, and then being responsible for
all aspects in producing a high quality part. These responsibilities included but were not limited to the fallowing:
Create the work flow for the part
Attain knowledge of the effect the machining process has on the material
Design and manufacture work holding devices such as fixtures and vise jaws.
 Select the tooling
Use CAM software to select the best tool-paths for the material and the machining center
Trouble shoot the program and setup
Ensure the part meets or exceeds all quality standards provided by the customer
Produce the required number of parts while ensuring quality
In the job shop environment the number of parts run seldom was greater then in the hundreds. I have gone
through this process many times using a great variety of different materials. Most of my work was complicated
high tolerance parts requiring the use of multiple axis and multiple surface machining cycles.
I wrote controller macros for custom machine cycles and safety cycles. I used safety cycles to have the machine
check and move the axis if needed to avoid tool crashes. I modified Renishaw macros for custom applications.
I provided tech support setting up software and providing instruction on its use. I wrote many user interface
programs to speed programing, setup and to help avoid mistakes.
Other areas of knowledge and experience:
 Time and cost studies
 Quoiting machining time
 Work holding
 Tooling research
 Plating and finishes
 Threaded inserts
 Troubleshooting CNC machining centers
 Geometric tolerance
 Quality assurance
 Prototype
 Production
 Part and assembly design

Steam-Fitting and Welding Department Supervisor
1985-1989
In charge of maintenance and repair of steam-related equipment throughout university campus
Oversaw welding for repair and new construction
Performed flow analysis for new steam equipment
Performed cost studies for steam traps and insulation
Planned and ordered materials for various projects
 Supervised around 25 workers
When I applied for a collage job on campus I was put in the Steamfitting and welding shop because I was a
farm kid. I quickly learned how steam equipment worked and welding techniques for repair and new projects.
After working part time in collage I was asked to be supervisor. I had such good success organizing the
department and managing personnel that when the superintendent for the boiler plant retired I was asked to add
his responsibilities to my job. When the collage constructed a new co-generation plant I was asked to be Chief
operator because of my ability to find resources, learn what was needed and manage people.
Education
1981-1985
Bob Jones University, Greenville, South Carolina
General Studies
1975
Graduated from White Bear Lake High School
Military
1975-1980

When I came aboard my ship my duties were machining and pump man for damage control. By the time I left
the ship I was the supervisor for machining, knew all positions on the damage control party and was the leader. I
also performed the duties of Master at arms, Supply petty officer and Petty officer in charge of all paper work for
the Engineering department.
