SmithOUT is an organization at the University of Maryland established to provide professional development and social networking opportunities for LGBTQ+ students in the Smith business school. Membership is open to currently enrolled Smith students who attend at least half of organization meetings each year. The organization has 5 officer positions and a faculty advisor. Elections are held annually in April. Upcoming events include marketing, social, professional development, and advocacy activities. The vision for fall 2012 is to increase awareness of the organization through a kickoff event and speaker series. The member list currently includes 24 students.

2. PURPOSE
"SmithOUT" is established for the expressed
purpose of creating an official LGBTA presence
within the Smith community in order to
provide opportunities for professional
development and social networking for LGBTA
students interested in Business.
3. MEMBERSHIP
Limited to persons officially connected with the University of
Maryland, College Park as currently enrolled students
To become a member of SmithOUT, interested persons must attend one
organization meeting per semester
To maintain voting membership:
1. Attendance of at least 50% of all meetings during a given school year (Fall &
Spring).
2. Members must be currently enrolled undergraduate students
3. "SmithOUT does not restrict membership or discriminate on the basis of
race, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender
expression, marital status, personal appearance, age, national origin, political
affiliation, physical or mental disability, or on the basis of rights secured by the
First Amendment of the United States Constitution.

5. ELECTION PROCESS
All officers shall be elected by a majority vote of eligible voting
members of "SmithOUT."
All elections will be held on an annual basis during the month of
April with at least one weeks notice given prior to the meeting
where elections are to be held.
Terms of office shall begin immediately upon adjournment of the
election meeting.
The President will take nominations from the floor, the nomination
process must be closed and the movement seconded. The
nominated parties will be allowed to vote.
All voting shall be done by secret ballot to be collected and
tabulated

7. VISION FOR FALL 2012
For our first semester SmithOUT intends to
make the Smith and greater Maryland
community aware of its presence
One Kick off event
Series of speakers open to whole business school to
generate awareness of our group and also provide
networking opportunities to all students that attend
Other trips, activities, and events (as previously listed)
will be executed throughout the first two semesters,
keeping in mind the heavy emphasis will be on the kick
off event and the speaker series
