MOD ABBEYWOOD - BRISTOL Chief Petty Officer Naval Applicator for DNA2 Command System. 2013 - 2015 Naval Applicator for ADAWS Command System. 2008 - 2010 • Carried out Maintenance Audits and Quality Assurance visits to ensure that equipment was correctly maintained within 12 different naval units and establishments covering 3 different classes of ship. • Provided written and verbal reports for senior officers directly involved in the process of Naval Procurement. • Provided specialist advice and assistance to front line maintainers in order to optimise equipment availability. Closely liaised with the manufacturer on behalf of the MOD and with other external agencies, to control all matters relating to logistical support, spare parts and specialist technical advice relating to DNA2 and ADAWS computer based command systems. The major achievements in these periods: Defect rectification onboard HMS BULWARK (2010), which resulted directly in the unit being able to sail on schedule to participate in a major NATO exercise. This provided a considerable financial saving to the MOD and led to a commendation from the Director of Surface Ship Support for actions above and beyond the call of duty. Brought in a major software and hardware update for the DNA2 computer system utilising ships in Fleet Time to accomplish all trials and testing (2015). This was the first time that a project of this scope had been attempted utilising working ships and not those just emerging from refit period. HMS NORTHUMBERLAND Chief Petty Officer W7 – DNA2 Command System Maintainer 2011 - 2013 • Maintenance of mission essential equipment. • Divisional Officer to a team of 3 Junior Ratings providing career advice and pastoral care. • Close liaison with civilian companies and contractors. The major achievement in this period: Worked closely with outside agencies and several civilian contractors and companies to regenerate HMS Northumberland's Combat System equipment to full operational capability following a major refit period. HMS WALNEY Chief Petty Officer Weapon Engineering Officer 2010 - 2011 • Management - Head of Weapon Engineering Department accountable for maintenance and availability of all weapon and sensor equipment. • Leadership - Officer of the Day directly answerable to the Commanding Officer for all matters concerning ships safety, command and control of emergency incidents and adherence to established daily routines for the period of my duty. • Accounting - Officer of the Quarter in charge of correct storage and accounting of all explosive stores. Explosives subject matter expert onboard. The major achievement in this period: Restoration of SONAR capability following a major failure during NATO mine hunting operations requiring advanced diagnostic routines facilitated by telephone advice from UK based engineers in UK and close collaboration with specialist engineers flown in to repair the defect on site. HMS MONTROSE Petty Officer/ Chief Petty Officer W4 - I.T Systems Maintainer 2005 - 2008 • Correct maintenance and administration of all onboard I.T equipment. This consisted of several systems running on various versions of Windows software and a UNIX based software system. The major achievement in this period: Restoration of secure web based chat capability allowing communication with US, Canadian and Australian naval units requiring advice provided by specialist civilian engineers based in UK and Hawaii working long hours to overcome engineer availability due to different time zones. HMS ALBION Leading Weapon Engineering Artificer/Petty Officer ADAWS Command System Maintainer 2002 - 2004 • Maintenance and administration of ADAWS Command System and Tactical Data Link equipment. The major achievement in this period: Successfully participated as part of the Weapon Engineering Department onboard, in bringing a new and untested class of warship through an intense and demanding set of sea trials and seeing it subsequently accepted into the Naval Service.
