and safety legislation and is absolutely
essential to a safe working environment

So, what is a Risk Assessment?
The identification of hazards, the calculation and
reduction of risk either completely or to an
acceptable level.

Risk Assessment  The Jargon
 Hazard  Something with the potential to cause harm
 Risk  The likelihood that someone will be harmed by the
hazard
1. High Risk  likely to cause serious injury or consequence,
will be or need structured control measures
2. Medium Risk  chance of injury or consequence, may be
or may need some control
3. Low Risk  minimal chance of injury or consequence,
probably will not need control measures
