1. I UVOD
injenicu da je tema ovog rada izuzetno op邸irna, potkrepljujem tezom da je itava
jedna civilizacija izgraena na leima potlaene klase, nazvane robovima. Iz toga
proizilazi da je za sagledavanje ropstva u historijskom kontekstu potrebno dosta
vremena i prostora. Meutim, ja u kroz ovaj seminarski rad poku邸ati da kroz
osnovne pojmove uka転em i istaknem moje vienje i dosada邸nja saznanja o ropstvu.
S tim ciljem poku邸at u da izdvojim i obradim najznaajnije pojmove ropstva, prije
svega da defini邸em ropstvo, pojmovno da uka転em na osnovne karakteristike, opi邸em
historijski razvoj, te ukratko prezentiram izvore i tipove ropstva. Nakon toga u
pristupit obradi pojma ropstva i slobode u Rimskom carstvu. Tu u prije svega
pristupiti obradi njihovog pravnog i stvarnog polo転aja, naina na koji su iskazivali
svoje nezadovoljstvo i te転ak polo転aj, te nain na koji su sticali svoju slobodnu i
oslobaali se iz ropstva. Isto tako, radi lak邸eg razumijevanja i boljeg pregleda, uz
seminarski rad prilo転it cu razne ilustracije, slike i tebelarne prikaz, koji e nam
omoguiti bolji uvid u prilo転enu temu.

2. II Pojam ropstva
Ropstvo je dru邸tveni ili pravni status pojedinca - roba, kome su oduzeta ljudska
prava, i vlasni邸tvo je druge osobe ili zajednice. Sama rije ''rob'' na latinskom znai
onaj kome je 転ivot po邸teen. Robovi se dr転e protiv njihove volje radi materijalne,
finansijske, seksualne ili neke druge koristi. Historijski gledano, robovi su naje邸e
kori邸teni kao neplaena radna snaga koja nema prava da odbije, napusti ili dobije
ne邸to zauzvrat za takav rad. Ropstvo je bilo sastavni dio raznih kultura tokom
historije, ali se poslednjih par stotina godina smatra neprihvatljivim i nehumanim.
Ropstvo u pravnom smislu je ilegalno i nedopustivo u skoro svim dru邸tvima
dana邸njice, a dr転ave u kojima je zakonom dozvoljeno, te邸ko da se mogu nai.
''Meunarodna organizacija rada defini邸e prinudni rad kao "svaki rad ili uslugu bilo
koje osobe pod prijetnjom kazne, a za koju se osoba nije dobrovoljno prijavila", sa
izuzecima: vojne slu転be osuenika, vanrednog stanja i odslu転ivanja kazne kroz
dru邸tveno korisni rad.''1
Rob - SERVUS nije pravni subjekat, ve objekat prava ili
stvar, nema ni pravnu ni poslovnu sposobnost. ''Prema Akvilijevom zakonu o 邸teti
(287. god.p.n.e.) ubojstvo, odnosno povreda roba jednako su tretirani kao ubojstvo
転ivotinje, odnosno o邸teivanje stvari.''2
