Paul is our Warehouse Manager, with over 40 years in warehousing, logistics and distribution (both as manager and consultant) Paul has worked for some of the biggest names in the industry and we were very pleased to have him on board to help us set up the new distribution centre from initial concept, right through to the installation and operating of the warehouse today. WHATS BEEN HAPPENING WEVE UPGRADED OUR WAREHOUSE! We are extremely pleased and excited announce the opening of ROYDs new National Distribution Centre. With continuing rapid growth and the need to service an increasing number of the largest names in the industry, it has been necessary for us to open our own ROYD Distribution Centre. This is to ensure we not only massively increase the volume of stock we can hold, but also ensure we can always hold to our next day delivery guarantee. Plus, we can improve and guarantee the quality of service we are able to offer all our customers. From increased tracking/visibility, through to the handling of specific customer shipping needs, we are confident that we will always be able to deliver on our customer satisfaction promise. This is a huge move for ROYD, after a very turbulent past 18 months with stock, storage, space, and transportation shortages hitting us, we have done all we can to support our customers in this time. Furthermore, we are now pleased and confident that with a current stock sufficiency of 98% and service level of 96.9%, we are now in a much stronger position to increase and maintain our service level once again. - 6. 06 ROYDS ZERO100 PACKAGING DRIVE! Plastic packaging serves important functions in our modern day lives. From protecting vulnerable products to allowing products to be transported at greater distances. While plastic can be very useful, it is responsible for a high proportion of waste which all too often ends up in the wrong places. To this end, ROYD are pleased to introduce our ambitious ZERO100 packaging campaign. ZERO100 stands for: Zero single-use plastics and 100% recyclable packaging on all products by 2023! Our approach to plastic is changing and weve set massively ambitious targets to not only reduce but eradicate single- use plastic from our products and supply chain. We are currently working on some game-changing packaging designs for our products, to maintain a high level of POS, whilst eradicating single-use plastic and COMING SOON helping build a more sustainable future. In 2020 alone, ROYD were responsible for introducing over 30 tonnes of plastic into the supply chain. Laid out flat this amount of plastic would cover 3.71 football pitches or fill 7.53 40- foot containers. WHAT IMPACT WILL ZERO SINGLE-USE PLASTIC HAVE? In the words of our General Manager Bruce Webberley: ZERO100 is a game changer for us. Whilst its a radical change to how we have viewed packaging previously, we are putting everything into this project to ensure we can meet these ambitious targets, without compromising product quality or presentation. The amount of plastic waste we generate is set to increase to north of 50 tonnes by 2024. By eradicating (rather than reducing) single-use plastic packaging from our products, we will ECO PACKAGING ZERO SINGLE-USE PLASTICS AND 100% RECYCLABLE PACKAGING ON ALL PRODUCTS BY 2023! not only be doing all we can to save our oceans and landfill sites but will also be significantly reducing our Carbon footprint and saving our customers from tens of thousands of pounds of extra tax from the new plastic tax that is being introduced. Whichever way you look at it, it is an awful lot of plastic being produced, and with this only increasing as demand continues to increase, we are now waging our own war against single-use plastic packaging.
