Rugbycentric Player+
Rugbycentric Player+ is a web application dedicated to facilitating the development of rugby
players of all ages and all levels. Built around a dashboard and a calendar, the app provides
users a way to:
 Create custom training sessions
Build and manage a training program
 Log their workouts, cross-training and
recovery activities
 Take fitness tests
 Track their progress
Keep an eye on their welfare and training
balance with comprehensive charts and
graphs
For the most committed players, rugbycentric also offers bespoke in-season and pre-season
online S & C camps where players get all the guidance and programming of an elite rugby set
up, remotely managed by S & C coaches.
Coach+ is our web application dedicated to rugby coaches that integrates with Player+ .
Player+members can thus join aonline squad and get coached remotely though Coach+.
2
Gamification Design
The application uses a gamification design to increase user engagement and make using the
platform a fun and interactive experience. As they train and record their performance, users
gain points, pass levels, earn badges and see their avatar evolve.
Badges
Today Rugbycentric offer about 40 badges. All of them are designed to encourage good
practises (such as taking fitness tests, training on a regular basis, etc.) and reward good
performances (both at fitness testing and on the rugby pitch). In the future we will also use
badges to encourage social behaviors such as inviting friends to join the platform, sharing
music and pictures, commenting, etc.
Avatars
Each user is attributed an avatar depending on his or her position in a
rugby team. The avatars body evolves relatively to the users
progress in endurance, speed, core strength, lower body and upper
body strength. In order to have his or her avatar evolve, the user must
thus take fitness tests and improve on his last performances.
3
Today we offer three different families of avatars and more
are being designed. They will include new animal species, better
colouring and more body evolutions for a finer reflection of the
players fitness gains.
Points and Levels
Points are given to the users
when they validate an activity
(gym workout, cross training,
rugby training, recovery session,
etc.). They are broken down into
seven categories: Rugby, Speed,
Upper-body strength, lower body
strength, agility, endurance,
recovery.
As the user gets points he or she can level up. In the future, levelling up will also require to
take quests and get other achievements (such as taking a fitness test or creating workouts).

5
Social
Rugbycentric regroup rugby players from all ages and levels from around the globe.
Leveraging on that, the application offers a number of social features.
Public Profiles
Each user has a public profile that can be viewed by other
members of the application. A follow functionality is available
to keep track of friends and teammates. Avatars are also put
side by side to allow a quick comparison of the players fitness
levels. In the near future we want to build on the social aspect
of the platform and let users share their gym tunes, pictures,
videos and rugby/fitness related articles. We also want to
develop competition mechanism such as quests and
challenges.
Leaderboards
A point leaderboard and a fitness test leaderboard
are accessible on the application. Members can be
searched by username or club name. They can
also find themselves on the leaderboards and see
whos in front and whos behind of them.
Leaderboards link to public profiles.

Pre-season Camps and In-season Programs
The Rugbycentric Pre-season Camp
The Rugbycentric pre-season camp is a bespoke, 8-week, all encompassing strength &
conditioning journey designed for rugby players. The program guide players through the
essential facets of preparing his body for the forthcoming season, leaving no stone unturned
and ensuring he or she is in the best possible shape to kick off the new season.
The player can choose between four objectives (speed, endurance, hypertrophy, all-round) and
three intensity levels (amateur, aspirational, pro). Both parameters influence the content of the
program he or she will receive. When registered, the player receives each week a set of
workouts to perform directly in his or her calendar. Along the way he or she can adjust the
camps parameters (objective and intensity).

Camps & Programs Track Record
RugbyCentric has offered three online pre-season camps in Summer 2014, January 2015
(Southern Hemisphere) and Summer 2015. More than 100 players from England, France,
Switzerland, Norway, Ireland, Australia, South Africa and Argentina joined and successfully
completed the camp.
Rugbycentric has partnered with the Swiss
Rugby Union Federation to ensure the
Swiss Womens National Team best
prepare for the upcoming 2015 European
Nations Trophy.
In cooperation with the Swiss team head
coach, Rugbycentric runs a custom
strength and conditioning program that
make sure the players start the
competition in top shape. 33 players of the
Swiss Women squad are currently using
the application and following this program.

Well Being Monitoring
Player+ prompts members to fill-in a daily
well-being questionnaire. The cleanest output
of this daily questionnaire is a traffic light
warning system that indicates what
intervention, if any, should be made. Whether
the player is fully fit (green), is showing signs
of fatigue, soreness or other well-being issues
and would be worth checking in with (orange)
or the player is showing serious signs
suggesting the need for an intervention,
whether the night off training or a more in depth discussion about their lifestyle and
well-being.

S&C Workout Builder
We have designed a simple yet comprehensive workout builder tool. Several online S&C
camps were programmed using this tool. The tool is
currently being updated with more exercises, better
categorization and a more powerful ergonomy. The
system works as an e-commerce shopping system:
1. Filter the exercises you want and add them in
your cart
2. Enter the sets, reps and superset
3. Give the workout a name and save it
4. The workout is available for scheduling

Whats Coming Up
We are working on several new features and improvements for our Player+ app. Here is our
short term list:
1. Integration with 3rd party apps: Nike+, Fitbit, Withings, etc.
2. Development of a new catalog of online programs
3. Development of a smart coach that will give advices and feedback to the player
4. Introduction of objectives and challenges
