The international teacher regularly reviews own practice, sets high personal targets and takes
responsibility for continuing professional development to enhance the learning experience of students,
colleagues, families and the wider community.
OBJECTIVES
Plans for and promotes increased international-mindedness among learners
This objective has been strong met by Nicholas. He is enthusiastic to develop internationally-
minded students and his goals in Evidence A reflect this. He has worked towards this
objective through-out the ITC course.
Engages with contemporary research and development in the field of international education
Nicholas has enjoyed the intellectual stimulation of inquiring into issues of international
education. His workshop on gender differences for Standard 3 was well received and
promoted reflection among his colleagues. He shows commitment to this objective and
hopes to continue professional development, perhaps taking up a Master's Degree course as
his long term goal.
Works consistently with colleagues to learn more about the international and intercultural context
Again, Nicholas has achieved this objective. He is examining both international and
intercultural aspects, particularly the latter in his education context. He is taking risks in his
curriculum design to incorporate more international and intercultural themes. He has made
good professional development in this area.
CORE EVIDENCE
Nicholas presented interesting Evidence.
Evidence A included excellent goals that reflect Nicholas' increasing enthusiasm for the
internationally-minded classroom. His short term goal of involving more students in learning
about the diversity of the local community has already been achieved and Nicholas is keen
International Teacher Certificate 2 Examiner Feedback Standard 5
to arrange more activities. He also aims to incorporate more global themes.
Core C showed an impressive innovation of European Languages Day where Nicholas
organised variety of activities to encourage students to become familiar with different
languages.
GENERAL REMARKS
Nicholas ends the ITC with a strong Standard 5. His mentor and senior colleague both agree
that this course has been significant in Nicholas' teaching career. He has gained many
insights and is trying new ideas and approaches. He recognises that his own cultural values
are different from his host country. He is enjoying the stimulation of learning more about
international education and the benefits this brings to his classroom.
