#2: I would like to present to you my website design business, Saahildesign.com. We are an online website designing firm with our office located in the city of Toronto. We undertake everything from designing and hosting of websites to their maintenance. I started this business a year ago as a small setup with 20 web developers and designers in the team. Over the year we have provided services to over 20 clients and we have been able to retain 15 of them as well.
#3: We are a team of 18 highly talented graphic and web designers and 2 business people. The designers, most of which out of our main office in Toronto are highly skilled and experienced in their field. Among them are 3 designers who work remotely from India and cater to our Indian clients. We plan on hiring more designers on contract from India in the future. This will have to keep our costs low without sacrificing on quality.
#4: A bit about myself. I am graduate in Business Administration from Apeejay Institute of Management, New Delhi. I also hold a diploma in Graphic designing from MAAC (Maya Academy of advanced cinematics). After my diploma I gained a couple of years of work experience working as a graphic designer for Sify technologies. I have also worked as a freelancer from time to time on various different projects.
#5: While working with Sify technologies back in India, I got the opportunity to work with a lot of major clients such as Novartis, GE Water, Sify itself and Allianz on various different projects.I also worked as a contract designer for the Animation Reporter magazine and the Disney Channel on a short animated movie.
#6: SaahilDesign.com offers mainly 3 types of services: These are namely: Website Designing, Website Hosting and Website maintenance. While we take up a lot of projects of creating new websites, we also take on the websites already in function, modify them and host them on our servers. Our main servers are located in Toronto itself providing the best of services to our clients.
#7: Our expansion plans include some additional services as well. There is a new business module in process called S.I.D.CS.I.D.C stands for SEO, Idea, Code and Design. With the changing market, clients are demanding for more services such as SEO etc. Therefore, by putting this new module into action, we will be able to capture a much larger share of the market.
#8: As we are a Small setup organization and new to the business, we are currently targeting the small businesses who need help with maintenance of their websites or want to get new websites built for their business. A demographic research of the market has revealed that men and women aged 29-40 have had the most websites made in the past year. Ot of these, 70% live in Toronto.
#9: While the trend in the market and the behavior of people towards products and services keeps changing, the demand of websites is increasing in today’s digital age. More people are wanting to make their presence online. While the bigger firms are the most heavy users of this service, they also demand more manpower and a bigger infrastructure to provide them with the service due to the amount of web traffic generated from them. We aim to increase our infrastructure and acquire bigger firms in the future.
#10: Being lived in India for more than 2 decades, I have a number of useful connections India-Wide. Therefore, 50% of our clients are the ones having their businesses based in the states New Delhi and Mumbai. The rest half of out clientele comes from the province of Toronto where our office is set up. While India generates a lot of business, we have to keep our prices low keeping in mind the affordability of people and the economy of the country. We have been able to achieve this by employing people from within India to work for us and cater to the clients there.
#11: Apart from that, we plan on gathering clients mainly from Canada as our Office and Main Servers are located there. Having out office located in Toronto, we have only been able to attract clients from the Toronto region. Therefore, we plan on setting up offices in other parts of Ontario as well and gradually move to other parts of Canada.
#12: Our being a Digital company, the advertising plan set up by us is digital as well. We plan on making the use of Google Adwords for the promotion of our business. We also plan on using Facebook ads which is another great tool for advertising online. If we are able to raise enough capital, we plan on expanding our campaign further to twitter. A short digital video is also in the works which will be showcased on youtube as an advertisement between videos.
#13: We have been running some promotional offers in the past year and they have been very successful in gaining as well as retaining clients.Therefore we still continue to provide offers such as Free hosting in which we offer an additional 5GB of data to the client with any purchase made.The Free maintenance offer provides the client with 1-year free maintenance service with any purchase.
#14: We have currently tied up with a couple of domain name providers to offer the best of service to or clients while keeping the costs low. GoDaddy and Namecheap, the largest domain name providers in the world have agreed to work with us and provide us with domain names at discounted prices.
#15: Let me now describe our business model. If a client wants to purchase from us, he goes online on our website and registers himself on our portal. Once he makes the payment, a request is received at our end with all his details. Our designer then calls the client back and takes all the information required for the designing of the website.
#16: He may also visit the client in person if required. After gathering all information, a first draft is designed and sent to the client for review. If the client likes the draft, the designer finalizes and uploads the final copy online. The client may ask the designer to change the design from time to time depending upon his choice.
#17: We are comparatively new in the industry but have still managed to capture a significant share in the market. This has been possible because of our well defined business pipeline and use of top of the class equipments. Our advanced servers have also helped us keep a really low downtime as compared to other service providers in the industry.
#18: Now this is where it all boils down to. Regardless of how much better services you offer, clients sometimes tend to shift to the cheaper options available in the market and not explore the negative aspects of it. Therefore, we have been providing clients with an initial low cost of $30 for 1 gb and an additional $10 per gb of space required. At this price, we have been able to capture a larger share of the market and we plan on increasing the costs once we build an image for ourselves in the market.
#19: Though ours is a great business idea, there are still some environmental factors which . Unforeseen events such as earthquakes and storms may damage the servers and put the websites down for longer periods. It might also incur additional costs for resetting the servers.Also, government policies are different for different region and they might prevent us from displaying specific content online. They may block certain content in their country from being displayed online. This would effect the business as we won’t be able to build the website as per the clients requirements.
#20: A SWOT analysis has shown that our major strength is our use of the highest quality servers and other equipment. This has helped us to keep the lowest downtime throughout the hear as compared to other service providers in Canada. The competitive prices that we offer is another strength of out business.There are lot of new opportunities arising for our business such as capturing new geographical markets which still have a lot of scope for business and retaining the customers already using our services without compromising on quality.
#21: On the other hand, there are some weaknesses and threats to the business as well. Our business is a relatively new one in the market and people sometimes tend to choose a more familiar and well established brand. Also, being a small setup, there isn’t a lot of capital available to expand to other markets. Our business also faces a threat from the much more well established businesses in the market offering the same services. Also, changes in government policies in different regions can pose restrictions on the use of certain type of content or design in websites .
