We are glad to have gathered here to celebrate childrens day today. Let me share the significance of this day to cherish our memories for years to come. Childrens day is celebrated all over the world perhaps on different days to pay tribute to all the children. In India, we celebrate it as Bal divas on 14th November 2016 which marks the birth anniversary of our first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Jawaharlal Nehru was a freedom fighter, Statesman, author, and modern architect of India. He used to wear red rose on his chest and love children who in turn used to call him as chacha Nehru. During Indias freedom struggle, while he was imprisoned, he used to write letters to his daughter Indira Gandhi sharing all his insights about the life, and world. Children are hope of every nation, family, and school. The UNICEF (United nations childrens emergency fund) was created in the year 1947 to improve the quality of childrens lives. Todays celebration reaffirms our faith to strengthen the rights of children by pledging them special care, attention, good education, health care by parents, teachers, government, and all citizens. Children aged under 18 years working as labour is a crime, and the government is doing lots of efforts to rehabilitate children by laws like right to education, polio eradication, save girl child etc. As we celebrate childrens day through a variety of activities like painting, singing, dancing, competitions etc., we should also dedicate some time sharing our vision towards personality development.
