Sammy is a short story about a girl named Alissa who receives a puppy for her 4th birthday. On her birthday morning, Alissa comes downstairs to find her older sister Emily excited for her upcoming birthday. Their mother leaves to run an errand and says she has a special surprise for the girls. Later, when their mother returns home, a small ball of fur comes racing towards the girls. While Emily is frightened and screams that the puppy will bite her, Alissa immediately bonds with the puppy. From that day on, Alissa and the puppy, named Sammy, become best friends.

Emily had a huge smile on her face much bigger than mine. Em's 7th birthday was coming up soon. She always gets excited when it's around her birthday month. Only Emily and I were home, my mom told Em and I she would be back soon and the babysitter would be at my house soon. She didn't say where she was going though. My dad was coaching his high school boys basketball team at South Lyon High School. Later that day my sister and I were anxious to see when my mom would get home. When we finally heard the kitchen door opening we heard a small bark...... next thing I know a small, short, ball of fuzz with to brown big eyes and a wet black nose came racing for me and my sister. Emily doesn't really like dogs so as a small frightened little kid she ran up on the couch where our new puppy couldn't reach her and started screaming,"IT'S GOING TO BITE ME! IT'S GOING TO BITE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!" My mom ignored her and said,"Happy Birthday girls!" Ever since that very day Sammy and I have been best buds. I'll always remember the day I first met him and how those puppy eyes were just to adorable to resist. Sammy will always be my best friend in the whole wide world!!!!!!
