Pupils are given opportunities to work in teams and be creative. Teachers guide pupils in looking up information online and identifying reliable sources, as well as reflecting critically on what they read, see, and write. These practices support 21st century skills. The SAMR model is introduced as a way to evaluate and enhance teaching practices through augmentation, modification, and redefinition of traditional lessons using technology. Teachers will watch a video about the SAMR model, discuss examples, and share ideas for activities at different levels.
2. Questions to consider:
• Do pupils work in teams/groups?
• Are we allowing for creativity?
• Are my pupils given opportunities to present their work
to their peers?
• Do we guide them in how to look up information?
• Do we show them how to identify reliable online
sources?
• Do we guide them to reflect and be critical of what they
read, see and write?
All the above support and nurture 21st
century skills.
SAMR - a model to help us evaluate, assess and enhance
these teaching practices.
10. Workshop Activities
• Watch the video, discuss the classroom
activity and identify the SAMR level
reached and why.
• Think of practical activities which can be
carried out using any of the levels in the
SAMR model.
• Share your ideas with the rest of the
teachers.
