3. ABOUT SARAH:
Aged 30 years, Sarah is a corporate professional currently working with Royal Enfield as Assistant Manager in the
Department of Rides & Community. Its the core rides team that organizes the national rides and events across the
country and are behind training the dealers on these aspects.
I joined Royal Enfield in 2014. Being a traveller and a blogger (read: https://indiasflipside.wordpress.com/) before that, I
have been actively involved with the motorcycling community all these years. Apart from that, my work experience
includes varied roles from being a bartender in London to a social support worker in Wales (caring for children with
learning disabilities); and from being a professor in Chandigarh to working for now Royal Enfield in Chennai (my current
position), riding different motorcycles all this while. I am the first woman rider to be hired by the company as part of
their rides team, says Sarah, proudly.
Her big moment was when she decided to come back to India for good in 2013 and decided to embark on a journey to
discover what she called as Indias Flipside. She travelled solo from Bangalore Ladakh and back till Chandigarh,
covering around 6000 kms and 8 mountain passes in 20 days and became Indias first woman to do so on a Royal Enfield.
Though never behind awards or records, she believes travelling is her biggest calling!
Always a fan of pushing limits and discovering newer areas to test her adventure spirit, she got introduced to racing in
2014 when she attempted her first dirt track race at Royal Enfield Rider Mania, Goa and finished 4th
in her first attempt
(out of 10 participants).
Royal Enfield Dirt Track Race, Goa 2014 SJOBA Rally (one of the oldest rally races in India), 2015
4. She also finished MRF MoGrip INRC Rally of Hyderabad in the Bullet Class (Read 3rd

5. The big win was the 17th
Raid-de-Himalaya 2015.
17 years of Raid-de-Himalaya, the highest and toughest motorsport event in India and considered to be the second
toughest after Dakar; and there was never an Indian woman who finished all six days of Extreme 2W category. Before
me, only 2 women had attempted raid and they got out on the 1st
day itself.
I rode a modified Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 in the Extreme 2W category and became the first Indian woman to finish
Raid-de-Himalaya at 20th position out of 75 riders who started the raid.
Here are a few clips of some video coverage shot during raid-de-Himalaya:

6. I had a fall on the last day of the rally on black ice, in the first stage, and cracked my collar bone. With the cracked collar
bone, I rode 226kms till Srinagar, finally finishing the rally and thereafter becoming the first woman biker to win Coupe-
de-dames trophy and also John Mark James trophy for bravery.
