Viscri is a village in Transylvania, Romania that is home to one of the most spectacular Saxon fortified churches, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Prince Charles sponsored renovations of the church and houses in Viscri through his foundation. In the late 1990s, two Germans started a natural wool sock business in Viscri, with over 100 local women knitting socks, gloves, hats and other items from old wool sweaters. The handmade items are sold in Germany and at a café in the village.
