South Purdown is a nature conservation area and important wildlife corridor that is valued by the local community. It is used for running, walking, sports, picnics, wildlife observation, photography, and other activities by over 50 families, local school children, and running clubs. However, the area is proposed for development which would make it inaccessible for those with disabilities and difficult for emergency vehicles. Developing South Purdown would eliminate an important green space that is within an 18 minute walk of neighborhoods that are currently underserved in this regard.

Earthing is a new sport that combines running and swimming while promoting environmental education and conservation. It is practiced in outdoor or indoor pools by running on a track next to the pool and then diving in to swim. Competitions involve choosing an environmental cause to support with prize money. Earthing has already been introduced in schools in Denmark, combining sport with lessons on wildlife and climate change. The creator of Earthing has 25 years of experience as a swimming coach and wants to use the sport to develop children and promote environmental stewardship.
The proposed new green space would focus on mental and physical wellbeing through outdoor activities, social aspects, education, and community involvement. Outdoor activities may include sports equipment, courts for tennis/basketball, and paths for walking/running. Social aspects could incorporate cafes, play areas, and family-friendly games. Educational aspects might consist of spaces highlighting the park's history and nature, with workbooks for children. The community would provide input through a public forum and ensure representation of all demographics.

This document discusses nature conservation efforts in Singapore. It begins by listing some natural areas in Singapore and noting that there are still some native species found there, such as coral reefs and dolphins. It then discusses what constitutes "nature" and different approaches to conservation. Several conservation groups in Singapore working on issues like terrestrial and marine conservation are highlighted. A case study of Chek Jawa wetlands discusses how public awareness and opposition helped defer a large reclamation project there in the early 2000s. The talk emphasizes the importance of public participation and involvement of different stakeholders in conservation.

DUST SUPPRESSING CHEMICALS : MECHANISM APPLICATION & MARKET TRENDSJanapriya Roy
油
Dust pollution is a critical environmental and occupational concern, especially in industries such as mining, construction, and manufacturing. The adverse effects of airborne dust particles include health hazards, decreased machinery efficiency, and environmental degradation. Dust-suppressing chemicals provide an effective means to control dust dispersion by binding particles, retaining moisture, or forming protective crusts. This paper explores the mechanisms, working principles, market trends, and future directions of dust suppression technology. Advancements in eco-friendly formulations, nanotechnology applications, and automated dispensing systems are expected to drive the industry's evolution. The market for dust suppressants is expanding due to regulatory mandates and increasing awareness of environmental and occupational health standards. The analysis highlights the major application areas where dust-suppressing chemicals are essential for maintaining operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Dust-suppressing chemicals function by altering the surface tension of dust particles and binding them together, thereby reducing their ability to become airborne. These chemicals can work through different mechanisms, including:
